Château D'Yquem

2007

The weather was so poor (a cool summer, 100 mm of rain in August, uneven ripening, grapes that swelled and split, etc.) that this vintage should by all rights have been best forgotten – if it were not for a miraculous change in the weather.
The harvest began as early as the 6th of September, with the picking of perfectly golden grapes in great condition on the most early-ripening plots with gravel soil. It was over by the 10th of that month, ending with selective picking on Yquem's greatest clay terroirs.
