Château D'Yquem
1947
This was one of the hottest summers of the century with only just enough rain during an autumn heatwave. Everything was combined to pick a wonderfully ripe, botrytised vintage in double-quick time to produce an enormously successful wine. This is a sumptuous vintage, as powerful as it is balanced. It melts in the mouth with rare finesse. A truly great year.
