Château D'Yquem

1972

Very much cooler than average from April to October and very dry from June to December – except in August, when showers had an adverse effect on ripening. Botrytis did not develop, and so this was a year without Yquem.
The grapes used to make Y were picked very late. There were two passes in the latter half of November and one in the first half of December. The 1972 harvest of Y ended 10 days before Christmas.
