Château D'Yquem
1912
Mild weather at the beginning of the year brought on early bud break. Yquem miraculously avoided frost in April, but the cold did cause some coulure. Summer was "abominable", with unrelenting rain that encouraged an invasion of grape worms. The crop was small, the berries overripe rather than botrytised, and rain arrived too late in the season to have a positive effect on the last passes. An extremely difficult vintage.
