Château D'Yquem
1960
Warm, dry weather prevailed until the end of June, followed by a cool period and considerable precipitation (146 mm in September and 196 in October i.e. 2 to 4 times the average). The warm spring weather fortunately made it possible to pick early in two separate passes, from the 2nd to the 14th of September and from the 22nd to the 26th of that same month. This was followed by 18 consecutive days of rain and hard work to save what could be. But the only grapes that were harvested were used to make Y. A tiny vintage, and more overripe than botrytised.
