Château D'Yquem
1973
A mish-mash of different meteorological influences. The weather was variously cold, hot, wet, and dry... It rained heavily in September and the only possible time to pick was from the 2nd to the 12th of October. A few grapes with 20° potential alcohol were brought in at this time. However, driving rain in mid-October damaged most of the remaining grapes beyond hope, although a few barrels' worth were saved around the 1st of November. A very difficult year and an tiny harvest, barely up to Yquem's standards.
