Château D'Yquem

Spring was very wet, and flowering fairly premature. Summer was just as wet and cool, even cold. Two five-day dry periods were not enough to achieve concentration. The first two weeks of October were finally free of rain. Sugar levels rose, but the quantity of grapes picked was ridiculously low (only enough to make two barrels of wine a day). The remaining grapes were brought in from the 13th to the 20th of October, but they were not sweet enough for Yquem. The harvest was a sad affair, but the quality is fairly good.
