Château D'Yquem

1906

Yquem miraculously escaped the frost that struck Sauternes on the 25th of March. The weather from then on was totally unseasonable: very little precipitation from mid-May to mid-October, and very high temperatures. The grapes became botrytised very quickly despite the dryness. Five passes followed one another over a five-week period, and the grapes were extremely sweet and in good condition. 58 mm of rain in early October slowed things down, and the last pass took place from 7 to 24/10, yielding little fruit. A very rich and fairly plentiful vintage.
