Château D'Yquem
1951
Both spring and summer were cooler than average, but with the usual amount of precipitation. However, the fate of the 1951 vintage was sealed on the 3rd of May when a hail storm wrought terrible damage. Above and beyond the direct loss, the entire growth cycle was very upset. Flowering began in July and colour change in September. Despite much better weather at harvest time, there was nothing to pick... No Yquem was produced that year.
