Château D'Yquem


The beginning of the year was quite cold, followed by a wet spring and dry summer. The lack of rain until mid-October delayed the harvest, which only began on the 15th of that month. Grapes from the first pass were excellent, but heavy rain set in starting on the 23rd of October and sugar levels dropped. Half of the grapes harvested in November were used to make Y. This was a complex vintage calling for draconian selection. Very little Yquem was produced.
