Château D'Yquem

1917

Spring was cold and summer warm, except the month of August. Rainfall was average. Conditions were ideal in early September, especially thanks to 37 mm of rain followed by 3 weeks of dry weather. The first two passes brought in rich, sweet grapes. Unfortunately, 88 mm of rain from the 3rd to the 16th of October ruined the rest of the crop. Picking went on determinedly until the 24th, but sugar levels had plummeted. Small quantity, but a wine with a wonderful potential.
