Château D'Yquem

1923

A warm spring followed by cooler-than-average temperatures in May and June. Summer was beautiful with moderate water stress. 42 mm of rain fell from 13/9 to 22/9, initiating a first wave of noble rot, followed by 8 days of dry weather that were not sufficient to concentrate the grapes. The three passes lasting until the 20th of October only just about attained the desired sugar levels. However, grapes picked the last week of October succeeded in reaching 20° potential alcohol. The crop was average and featured a few lots of outstanding quality.
