Château D'Yquem
1981

A very warm month of March caused early flowering. Paradoxically, temperatures were cool the rest of the growing season. A series of showers arrived in late September. Except for an easy first pass between the 5th and the 10th of October, it took a great deal of patience and expertise thereafter to pick grapes with acceptable sugar levels. Fortunately, an easterly wind had a miraculous effect. In the long run, this has turned out to be a very beautiful Yquem.
