Château D'Yquem
1939

Temperatures were constantly 1-2° lower than usual throughout the growing season. Rainfall was average, except for the month of August (when it was above average). The harvest began at a slow rhythm in late September. However, there were 4 weeks of uninterrupted picking in October. Unfortunately, the potential alcohol level never went past 17°. The wine reflects a particularly cold year that called for skill and expertise to make the final blend from very diverse lots.
